Results 2007

The annual Milford 5 mile road race proved to be as popular as ever while having to contend with an added influx of half term holidaymakers chasing the autumn sunshine.

The individual winners were both brought up in the area so that Lee Rodriguez , the recent New Forest Half Marathon winner, running for his new club Poole Runners, settled into a comfortable first place with a time of 27 minutes 6 seconds ahead of first veteran 40 runner Graham Bungay from Southampton RC (27-32). The 2nd Senior Man home was Oli Dodd from New Forest Runners (28:40) ahead of the first Veteran 50 running, local man Henry Szwinto from New Forest Runner (28:48) just ahead of Martyn West also Vet 50 from Southampton RC (29:30). Ian Barnes Poole Runners recording a time of 29:44 to win the Veteran 60 prize followed home by John Hunt from New Forest runner (32:45).

The other local was the lady who has already notched wins in the Lymington RNLI 10K, the Everton 10K and now Milford; a record that Nicci Blandford, the Southampton RC runner, will be happy to maintain. Her winning time of 31 minutes 19 seconds being almost 90 seconds ahead of second placer of Val Sesto from New Forest Runners (32:48).

The First Veteran 40 Lady was Carole Loader from Bournemouth Joggers (36:05), Jacqueline Smith from Reading Road Runners was 2nd (36:31). The First Veteran 50 Lady was Noreen Henderson from New Forest Runners (38:44), just beating another New Forest Runner Jane Petifer (40:04). The First Veteran 60 Lady was Angela Coubrough from New Forest Runners(48:21)just beating another New Forest Runner Hazel Lewis (49:13). The unusually mild and still conditions resulted in many competitors from the 181 finishers going home with personal best times on a course that offers a testing climb from 2 to 3 miles after rounding Keyhaven harbour, although the downhill finish to Milford Green always encourages faster times.
