The Burton Christmas Pudding 10K is a very popular race, held just before Christmas! All finishers receive a Christmas pudding! At least you feel that you earned it when you sit down to eat it! Entry is restricted to 800 and the limit is reached by June. Please get your entry in early to avoid disappointment!

The Milford and Keyhaven 5, held late in October, starts on the seafront at Milford-on-Sea with the Needles on the Isle of Wight as a backdrop! It passes through the picturesque fishing village of Keyhaven and finishes on the village green in Milford.

The Everton 10K is held in mid August and starts and concludes in Everton village - situated between New Milton and Lymington. It is a tale of two halves! The first is fairly flat and out in the open whilst the second half is mainly shaded by trees - welcome on a hot day but it is a bit undulating!

Hoburne Park 5,held in early October, starts and finishes in the grounds of Hoburne Park holiday complex and features a fairly flat, fast course. Ideal for achieving a personal best time. You can check out the facilities that Hoburne has to offer and stay for their Sunday carvery lunch after the race if you wish.

The Mad March Hare 20 is what it says! Starting in Burton, Christchurch - in March, it is an out and back 20 mile race which provides useful preparation for those entered for the London Marathon. By this time in your preparation for a marathon you are running like a hare and constantly saying to yourself "I must be mad!" Again, please book your place early for this popular race.

The Sway Carnival 5 Mile Race is an off road event at Wilverley in the New Forest near to Sway and Brockenhurst. It is held in July and is part of a week long list of activities organised by the Sway Carnival Committee. It is set on forest tracks and the course is undulating! Dont be surprised to see ponies or cattle grazing nearby! Proceeds from the Carnival week are distributed to good causes local to the village.

Everton 10k and Milford & Keyhaven 5

The Everton 10K Road Race was previously organised to raise funds for the Everton Youth Football but this lapsed for a few years. In 2001 Keith Mitchell, Liz Everard and Graham West (the committee of three) undertook to revive the race, all at that time being runners themselves!

The first year all the money raised went to a fund for home improvements for a young girl with cerebral palsy. Each year subsequently the money went to Oakhaven Hospice until 2007 when funds also were given to the original benefactor - Everton Youth Football!

In 2002, the committee of three decided to revive the Milford and Keyhaven 5 Mile Road Race which had also lapsed. This race, it was decided, would be dedicated to the youth of the village. It has to date given funds to the junior cricket, junior football, Girl Guides, Sea Scouts, Twinklers Parent and Toddler Group and this year to the new Milford Youth Club. To date between the two races £7540 has been awarded. Support has also been given to the St. John Ambulance to whom we rely on for first aid and any medical emergencies, this would take our donations over the £8,000 mark!

Each year local companies are approached for sponsorship to enable the maximum amount to be given to the chosen causes and every year they come-up trumps! We are indebted to their support.

This year 2008 it has been decided to continue the support of Oakhaven Hospice and to also give a 'top-up' donation to all the previous recipients.

We would always welcome any approach from a youth organisation from within Milford and Everton who require financial support albeit we prefer to donate the money for specific use rather than to a general fund.

The committee of three receive no recompense for their time, effort and contribution.

This years races are:

Everton 10k Sunday 17th. August, start and finish at the Recreation Ground, Frys Lane, Everton.

Milford and Keyhaven 5 Sunday 19th. October, start at Hurst Road and finish on the village green.

Volunteers for marshals are always welcome but we especially welcome support from the public for the runners as their entries raise the money.

For a short time there is inconvenience to road users but we hope they will accept this for the good cause. Be assured we do our best but we cannot keep everyone happy!!
