Hobrne 5 2011Rockin' Robin's a Scorcher!With October record temperatures set to be broken, 181 runners completed the Hoburne 5 (Christchuch, Dorset). The winner with a time of 27.49 was Robin Copestick of Bournemoth A C. Robin's nearest rival was Littledown Harriers' Adrian Bonner (28.22) with Paul Laslett of Shaftesbury A.C., third (28.44). Last year's Runningtree Series winner Roy Long kept up the pressure on his rivals in his bid to retain his title with a fourth place finish and a time of 29.25. Roy was also the first Vet Male 40. Mark Packer of Littledown Harriers was second Vet Male 40 (29.53). First New Forest Runner was Steve Morton (31.18) with fellow club member, Erica Fogg winning the Ladies Race in a time of 31.38. Jud Kirk of Bournemouth A C was first Vet Male 50 (31.48) and Howard Doe of New Forest Runners was first Vet Male 60 (32.13). Littledown Harriers' Nikki Sandell was second lady (33.37) with Jacqueline Goldsmith (Lordshill Runners) just behind, third with a time of 33.45. Another Littledown Harrier, Heather Khoshnevis was 1st Vet Female 50 (37.08). First Vet Lady 60 was Jackie Jenkins (42.46) with Rhona Goodwin 1st Vet Lady 70 (46.35) - both New Forest Runners. Chris Beck (Dorset Doddlers) was 1st Vet Male 70 (42.21). Senior running icon, Bruce Davidson (New Forest Runners) who recently celebrated his 90th birthday, completed the course in 71.25. After the race, it was down to the nearby beach for a dip to cool off and a well deserved ice cream!!! This race is part of a series which includes Everton 10K, Sway 5, Milford 5 and the Christmas 10K. A trophy will be awarded to the best male and female performers over the series. One point will be awarded per placing (1 point for first place, 2 for second etc.) The winners will be the ones with the least number of points accumilated. We will publish a league table regularly so that runners can see where they stand.
